WHAT ARE FACE AND BODY SCRUBS FOR?

Exfoliating is an essential beauty step to reveal the radiance of your skin. Exfoliants eliminate dead skin cells as well as impurities present on the skin surface.

There are two types of scrubs, chemical and mechanical. Mechanical scrubs are the most frequently used. They contain abrasive elements such as grains and are applied on damp, clean skin. In order for the grains to mix properly, you must massage your face, or body, in circular motions. These massages should be firm enough to exfoliate your skin, but gentle enough not to irritate it.

Unlike mechanical exfoliation, chemical exfoliation, also called a skin peel, does not contain abrasive elements. Often presented in the form of a cream, this type of scrub reacts in a natural chemical way. The exfoliating agents used can be fruit acids (glycolic acid, lactic acid, salicylic acid...) or enzymes from fruits (papaya, pineapple...). On contact with the skin, the enzymes in the scrub eliminate dead cells. In short, the chemical scrub acts without manual intervention or rubbing.

What is the role of face/body scrubs for the skin?

Exfoliation of the face or body enables the elimination of dead cells from the surface of the skin but also refines your skin texture.

In order to regain smooth skin, exfoliation is the ideal care for cellular renewal. Your moisturizing, firming, unifying, anti-dark spot and anti-aging skin care products will be more effective when applied after your scrub.

You must also be sure to choose the scrub that best suits your skin type. As with any skin care product, you want to optimize its effectiveness and tolerance for your skin. For example, for sensitive or dry skin, we advise you to use chemical face scrubs, i.e., abrasive scrubs that do not require a circular massage. On the other hand, if you have combination to oily skin, we recommend using a grainy facial scrub.

When should you do a face and body scrub?

You should be careful not to perform facial scrubs too often. You should only use a facial scrub once or twice a week.

Here are our recommendations for applying your scrub:

- Perform this action in the evening, or well before exposure to the sun

- Apply to clean, damp skin. Depending on the scrub, you may need to apply the scrub to dry skin. Be sure to refer to the application instructions on the product packaging.

- Apply only a dab of your scrub to your fingertips using light circular massages on the areas you wish to treat.

- Do not overdo the scrub. It should only last for a short time.

- Rinse your scrub with cold or warm water using a washcloth.

- Your skin care ritual isn’t finished just yet! It is essential to moisturize your skin after each scrub since you have just removed your skin’s protective film. By applying a moisturizing cream for the face or body you will help your skin recover softness and elasticity.
